What a Network Assessment Actually Includes

“Network assessment” gets used a lot, and it is not always clear what you actually get for it. At A&G, an assessment is not a sales pitch dressed up as a report — it is a structured look at your entire technology environment so that any money you spend afterward is spent on the right things. Here is exactly what it includes.

Why assess before you buy anything

Most technology frustration gets “solved” by buying equipment — a new router, another access point, a faster internet plan — without knowing whether that was the real problem. An assessment reverses that. We find out what is actually wrong first, so you do not pay for gear that does not fix anything.

What we inspect

• Wi-Fi coverage and interference. A walkthrough of the space measuring real signal strength room by room, mapping dead zones, and identifying interference and channel congestion.
• Wiring and cabling. The physical layer behind the walls — how things are actually connected, whether the cabling supports the speeds you are paying for, and what is mislabeled or unused.
• The network rack and equipment. What hardware you have, how it is configured, what is outdated, and what is quietly failing or overheating.
• Internet connection. Real throughput versus what you are paying for, reliability, and whether you have any protection against an outage.
• Security posture. Firewall and network settings, guest access, default passwords, and obvious exposure that should be closed.
• Devices and services. Computers, phones, cloud accounts, and how they all fit together — including the things that only one person knows how to keep running.

What you get: the Technology Blueprint

The assessment produces a clear, documented picture of your environment — what you have, what is working, what is at risk, and what we recommend, in plain language and in priority order. We call it a Technology Blueprint. It is genuinely useful even if you never hire us to do the work, because it is yours: a map of your own systems that most businesses and homeowners have never had.

What happens after

You decide. The Blueprint separates “fix now” from “plan for later,” with rough effort and priority for each item. Some clients hand it back to us to implement; some tackle the urgent items and sit on the rest; some just wanted to understand what they had. There is no obligation to buy anything.
